The Summer Jam is the biggest Reggae event in Europe. Since 1986 the festival takes place in the beginning of July of each year, right in the beginning of the "hottest" part of the German summer. In these years all the top-acts of the international Reggae scene have been playing at this huge happening. In the early years the Summer Jam Festival took place at the open-air-stage on top of the incredible Loreley-Rock. In 1994 and 1995 Contour -as the organising promotion agency- had to move the venue to the former US-Army airbase in Wildenrath before they found the current place at the Fühlinger See close to the city of Köln (Cologne).

Contour Music Promotion aims the goal to set up a program that includes all styles of todays Reggae-scene, Roots, Ragga, Dub, Jungle and whatever makes you feel Irie. Additionaly it is always part of the line-up to present bands from Africa or other parts of the world that demonstrate the Roots of Reggaemusic. Besides international superstars German and European Reggae bands also get the chance to perform on the big stage.

In the past years the following stars of the scene jammed the Summer Jam Festival (number of appearances in brakets):
